Version 1.1.0
Submitted to Apple on July 28, 2009. Approved by
Apple on August 7, 2009.
Version 1.1.0 is a major upgrade that
includes many new features. Here are the highlights.
Push Notification Configuration
Twitbit 1.1 allows users to configure whether
they receive push notifications for @mentions,
direct messages, both, or neither. This
configuration is done on a per-account basis.
This means that if you have one account that
receives more mentions than you
care to be notified about and another account that
doesn't, you can only receive mentions pushed to the
second account. Both accounts can still have direct
messages pushed to them.
Completely Redesigned Direct Messages
We've completely redesigned the workflow for
direct messages. We've broken them out into
their own tab, and the interface is based on
the built-in iPhone Messages application.
Your most recent conversations are saved by the
application, so they're ready for you as soon as you
start the app. And each conversation gives you a
threaded view, so you can see your conversations
chronologically, how they really happened.
With push support built right in, you never need
to send a text message again!
Landscape Mode
Twitbit 1.1 supports landscape mode when typing
tweets and direct messages, within the embedded web
browser, and in the photo browser (more on that
below).
Built-in Photo Browser
Twitbit 1.1 includes a built-in photo browser that
will show you full-size versions of user avatars, and
loads images directly from Twitpic, Yfrog, Tinypic,
Twitgoo, and Mobypic. If you'd rather see the photo
in the embedded web browser, just tap the action
button and select "View in Browser".
Saved Searches and Person Search
You can now save searches as bookmarks that can be
run later. Just tap the "Save Search" button at the
top of your search results.
Twitbit also saves your most recent searches, so
even if you forgot to save that important search you
did, chances are it'll still be in your recent
searches list.
Twitbit also allows you to search for other Twitter
users directly by looking up their username.
Improved Timeline Browsing
We've made a ton of improvements to browsing your
timeline.
- Twitbit will now remember where you left off.
The next time you open the app, your most recent set of
tweets are added to your tweets from last time. You
can then scroll chronologically through your
timeline and catch up on what you've been
missing.
- More tweet actions, including emailing a link
to a tweet and opening it in a web browser.
- Customizable re-tweet format.
- View Twitter users by their usernames or full
names.
- More actions from within the embedded web
browser, including emailing links, tweeting links,
or opening the page in Safari.
Everything Else
We've made a ton of other minor UI improvements,
and fixed any bugs we came across. The full set of
changes is too long to enumerate in full.
